Recently, four members of my family died. They left behind two older boxers. I am desperately trying to find a home for them. They are currently in the care of the Southwest Animal Clinic, but I cannot afford to keep them there. I live in New York City, and can't bring them here. We have called all the local boxer rescue organizations and they are all full.I am flying down to Houston tomorrow (12/29) to pack up my family's home, and try to find a home for these dogs (Jake and Bella). I do not want them to be killed, but I am finding few options.

UPDATE ON JAKE & BELLA, THE BOXERS LEFT BEHIND
Since I sent my SOS emails out last Monday evening, I have been overwhelmed with an outpouring of offers to help from all over the country. In a time when my heart has been so devastated by the deaths of my beloved aunt, cousin, and godchildren, your many offers to safeguard the lives of Jake & Bella have reminded me of the profound humanity that raises up the human species, and the sheer number of good people in the world.
I am extremely happy to say that a wonderful couple has adopted Jake & Bella, the two boxers left behind when my four family members died December 14. I am also happy to say that, when I visited them before their adoption, they had received extraordinarily loving care at the Southwest Animal Clinic in Bellaire, Texas.
To everyone who has offered help, or taken the time to forward my email to others to help find help: Your acts and affection have provided me with enormous support and moved me more deeply than I can express. Thank you.
Out of this tragedy mired with child abuse, violence, and institutional failures, it is my deepest hope that every person who offered to adopt Jake &/or Bella will choose to adopt a dog who needs a home. If the deaths of my family, who fought to safeguard the lives of my godchildren, lead to the safeguarding of the lives of other innocents, it would be a great testament and affirmation to the fact that light does indeed shine in the darkness, and the darkness has not put it out; a testament to life’s triumph over death, and love’s triumph over evil.
All over the country, animal shelters are overflowing with animals in need of homes. If you were willing to help Jake and Bella, please call and adopt in memory of Bonnie, Liza, Catherine, and Julia. Let your acts be a living message affirming the power of life and love over all forms of darkness and despair.
I ask that anyone who posted my prior message please post or forward this one, too.
With my heartfelt thanks,
May God bless all of you-
